Prinicpality Stattus Announced and Other News from Christmas at Canterbury

When I set out for the Christmas at Canterbury event yesterday, I expected to see a few friends and have some fun. I did not expect to be part of one of the SMA’s largest and (I think) most important events of this year. But that’s what it was. It was a beautifully sunny and breezy day at Fort Parker State Park, near Mexia, Texas, on the banks of Fort Parker Lake with a chill in the air that heralded the arrival of winter within the coming week. 43 people attended, making it one of the top two or three most-attended events of the year. The day’s activities were highlighted with the pilgrimage walk through the woods to visit the shrine of St. Thomas Becket. This was simply a group walk down a marked path in the park to visit a shelter where one of our new members, Brother Andreas, was giving ou

From the Dean

Idea for Summer Workshops: To the Good People of Solumbria from your Dean of Arts Dame Chiara da Milano, Greetings! I’d like to propose a series of events in Solumbria to work on projects that will benefit individuals (and perhaps groups). We would hold a retreat where folk could work on projects, hold classes, and gather in camaraderie. From May until August, I propose holding one weekend per month a “workshop” at a State Park where folk could work on projects that might need more space than their own home would allow; hold classes on various skills or knowledge that some might need to better play our game and where folk could come together and have fun. I’d like to ask some questions to get a better understanding and idea of what might be useful, interesting, and fun. 1.         What topics would you like to know (more) about? 2.         What skills would you like to learn? 3.         What projects would you like to make? 4.         What might you like to teach to others? 5.
